Hongguang S

The Wuling Hongguang S is a cross-border independently developed product by SAIC GM Wuling, which is based on the Wuling Hongguang model and is positioned between commercial and passenger vehicles. It features a smooth exterior design, diverse and practical spacious driving and passenger spaces.

The perfect balance between power and economy, as well as the strong performance in handling and safety, of the Wuling Hongguang S has overturned people's traditional impression of commercial vehicles. Compared to Wuling Hongguang, it has a more youthful appearance and a more sedan like interior design. In addition, it has been upgraded with a 1.5-liter DVVT engine for power.  

The racing competition game Forza Horizon 5 has officially announced the addition of Wuling Hongguang in its February update. This is the first time a Chinese car brand has entered this game series, and also the first time a domestic brand has been included in a large-scale racing game with global influence.  

The Wuling Hongguang S was launched on August 6, 2013, and the new car will be available in three models with two displacements of 1.2L and 1.5L

The new Wuling Hongguang S was officially launched on September 6, 2018, with two models equipped with a 1.5L engine.

Wuling Hongguang S has created a Xintiandi in the large business car market with its 1.2L and 1.5L displacement, ingenious design, exquisite interior, powerful cross class power, and absolutely attractive price of 49800~58800 yuan. Compared to the 2010 Hongguang, the biggest change in the appearance of the 2013 Wuling Hongguang S is located on the front face, with a single wide horizontal bar running through the upper grille and a chrome decorative strip, which is similar to the latest family face design of General Chevrolet. The honeycomb shaped grille, combined with two silver protective panels at the front and rear bottom, adds a touch of wildness to the Wuling Hongguang S, while also enhancing the visual texture of the entire vehicle. The eye-catching eagle eye crystal diamond front headlights and feather shaped crystal diamond front fog lights further enhance the vehicle's sense of class. There are two strong and robust lines raised on the engine hood, which visually have a strong sense of power.

The body of the Wuling Hongguang S does not have any flashy design, which reflects the stability that a business car should have. The streamlined body design has achieved a drag coefficient of only 0.36, which not only helps to reduce fuel consumption, but also effectively reduces noise during driving, thereby improving the comfort of passengers inside the car.

Compared to the exterior, the interior of the Wuling Hongguang S has undergone greater changes. Whether it's the three spoke multifunction steering wheel, the deep top and shallow bottom color scheme, or the layout of the center console, they have all been redesigned, and the overall style is closer to the layout of a regular family sedan. The newly added 7-inch touch screen integrates functions such as radio, Bluetooth, reverse image, etc., and offers optional GPS navigation throughout the range. Power

Abundant power, solid and stable handling

The Wuling Hongguang S is equipped with two engines, P-TEC1.2L and 1.5L, which are designed and manufactured according to General Motors' global powertrain standards. Both engines adopt a dual overhead camshaft design, which is relatively rare in small displacement engines. While ensuring sufficient power, they also demonstrate good fuel economy and greatly reduce vehicle operating costs.

Among them, the P-TEC1.2L engine was once honored as one of the "Top 10 Engines in China in 2009" with a power output of up to 52.2kW. The 1.5L engine is the latest high-performance engine developed by SAIC GM Wuling, with parameters even comparable to 1.6L displacement engines, with a maximum power of 82kW/5800rpm and a maximum torque of 146.5N · m/3600-4000rpm, and significant improvements in torque, noise reduction, and service life. The Wuling Hongguang S equipped with a DVVT1.5L engine can reach a maximum speed of 160km/h, with a comprehensive fuel consumption of only 7.5L per hundred kilometers.

In terms of power, the Wuling Hongguang S has replaced the original 1.4L engine with a 1.5L DVVT engine, increasing the maximum power to 82kW/5800rpm and the maximum torque to 146.5N.m/(3600-4000) rpm. This engine is also used in the 2013 Baojun 630. Another powertrain is the 1.2-liter engine on the old model, with a maximum power of 63kW/6000rpm and a maximum torque of 108N. m/(4400~4800) rpm. The entire series is equipped with a 5-speed manual transmission. [6] The Wuling Hongguang S adopts a five link swing arm rear suspension with good shock absorption effect, and the transmission system adopts a front to rear drive mode. The weight distribution of the front and rear axles is 45:55, and the center of gravity of the vehicle is reasonable.
