The Only Automobile Enterprise! SAIC-GM-Wuling Selected as One of the First Batch of "Pilot-Level Intelligent Factories" in China

On November 27th, the "2025 World Intelligent Manufacturing Conference" opened in Nanjing. Fifteen companies selected for the first batch of "Leading-Level Intelligent Factory" cultivation projects made their debut, with SAIC-GM-Wuling becoming the only OEM to be selected in this batch, thanks to its world-first Intelligent Island Manufacturing System (I²MS). At the conference, a joint initiative for the Leading Action Plan was launched, advocating for the creation of a "golden brand" for intelligent factories, guided by Chinese wisdom and linked by leading-level factories, jointly moving towards a new future of intelligent manufacturing!

To accelerate the digital transformation and intelligent upgrading of the manufacturing industry and create a globally leading development benchmark, six ministries, including the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the National Development and Reform Commission, jointly launched the selection and certification of "Leading Smart Factories." This selection categorized smart factories into four levels: Basic, Advanced, Excellent, and Leading. Leading smart factories were required to increase the proportion of AI technology applications from 20% (Excellent level) to 60%, achieve globally leading key technical and economic indicators, and conduct preliminary explorations of future manufacturing models. SAIC-GM-Wuling's Smart Island Manufacturing System, with its innovative, practical, and pioneering intelligent transformation across multiple stages, received unanimous approval and high praise from the judges, becoming a demonstrative benchmark for intelligent manufacturing in China and illuminating the path of exploring future manufacturing models.

The "Intelligent Island" Fully Flexible Production Model Leads the Third Revolution in Automotive Manufacturing

Addressing the demands for fully flexible manufacturing of products, production lines, and capacity in the era of electrification and intelligence, SAIC-GM-Wuling has pioneered the world's first reconfigurable, reconfigurable, and scalable Intelligent Island manufacturing system. SAIC-GM-Wuling has obtained 110 patents and 67 software copyrights related to the "intelligent island manufacturing system" and key technologies for industrial application. It has also participated in the formulation of 6 national and industry standards. After the factory was built, manufacturing efficiency increased by 30%, equipment utilization reached 98.82%, and product development cycle was reduced by 43%.
