Recently, the National Afforestation Committee issued the "Decision on Commending National Model Afforestation Units and Awarding National Afforestation Medals." The Baojun Base was awarded the title of "National Model Afforestation Unit"!
The National Model Afforestation Unit designation is my country's highest honor for voluntary tree planting, afforestation, and other land greening initiatives. This recognition fully recognizes SAIC-GM-Wuling's long-term implementation of Xi Jinping's Thought on Ecological Civilization and its promotion of green, high-quality development and intelligent manufacturing transformation.
Harmonious Coexistence: Promoting the Construction of a "Garden-Style" Factory
The Baojun Base is staffed with a professional landscaping team, planting over 150 species of plants, with greenery covering approximately 26% of the total factory area. Adhering to the principles of "ecology, low carbon, and vitality," the site strategically arranges trees, shrubs, and lawns, focusing on the protection and utilization of native plants. This provides an excellent native environment for small mammals, birds, and insects, effectively maintaining regional biodiversity. The site has been awarded the highest Gold Certification from the U.S. Wildlife Habitat Council (WHC), making it the only manufacturing plant in China to receive this certification.
Beyond the "garden-like" aesthetic of the site, the site continuously promotes the humanistic beauty of environmental protection, integrating environmental concepts into corporate culture and employee behavior. It advocates green office work and low-carbon living, achieving harmony between people, the environment, and the company and society. Through the provision of leisure trails, fitness equipment, landscaped pavilions, and employee gardens, the site creates a user-friendly space, offering employees a place to relax and exchange ideas. Furthermore, the site utilizes flower and plant resources for training and planting, fostering a love for greenery and a sense of the aesthetics of life as all employees share the fruits of their labor. Since the site's completion, employees have accumulated over 17,000 hours of greenery planting activities.
As a National AAAA-level tourist attraction and a National Industrial Tourism Demonstration Base, the Baojun Base adheres to the principle of openness and sharing, opening its doors to government agencies, community schools, and other institutions as appropriate. This showcases the industrial beauty of harmonious coexistence between automotive manufacturing and nature in the era of electrification and intelligence, helping to foster the concept of green, low-carbon development.
Green Development, Setting a New Benchmark for Green Manufacturing
The Baojun Base continues to innovate and promote energy-saving and emission-reduction technologies, optimizing resource and energy consumption, promoting clean production, and reducing pollution and carbon emissions. By 2024, the Baojun Base's wastewater COD emissions will be only 10% of its permitted total, and its waste gas VOCs emissions will be only 25% of its permitted total, demonstrating continued improvement in its environmental performance.
At the same time, pilot programs are being implemented to promote energy consumption quota management, dynamically optimize equipment start-up and shutdown strategies, analyze key energy performance parameters, and optimize and improve management. Over 1,000 energy-saving technologies are being vigorously promoted, including energy-saving improvements for single-pass painting, enhanced RTO waste heat recovery capabilities, networked air supply transformation and waste heat reuse at air compressor stations, variable frequency motors for fans and water pumps, and enthalpy control at refrigeration stations. This balances energy conservation and consumption reduction with quality improvement.
The Baojun base has consistently maintained one of the best vehicle unit consumption levels among GM's global plants for many years, receiving the international "Energy Star" award for three consecutive years and earning national honors such as "Green Factory," "GM China's Fastest Energy Conservation Progress Award," and "Energy Conservation Pioneer Group of the Year."
Empowered by digital intelligence, creating a new paradigm for intelligent island manufacturing.
The Baojun base shoulders the important mission of promoting the implementation of the "125" project and serves as the practice base for the "Two Million" platform. Leveraging cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data, and the internet, we are driving changes in automotive production, including flexible conveying, integrated dynamic and static workstations, efficient material coordination, and dynamic production line control. This innovation is driving new productivity and promoting high-quality, green, low-carbon development through innovative technology.
The Baojun base is a model of GM's intelligent manufacturing base, demonstrating the highest global production standards. By integrating cutting-edge technologies such as digitalization, automation, 5G communications, the Industrial Internet, and artificial intelligence, we have established the company's first-of-its-kind Intelligent Island Manufacturing System (I²MS), which is now successfully implemented in both the final assembly and body shops. This system has revolutionized the automotive industry's century-old assembly line production model, earning it the title of "Automotive Manufacturing Super Factory" and inclusion in the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's first batch of "Excellent Smart Factories." It will lead the third revolution in automotive manufacturing.
Going forward, the Baojun base will continue to uphold the principle that "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets," accelerating the coordinated development of the automotive industry and environmental protection. By enhancing its capabilities in intelligent, green, and low-carbon manufacturing, it will contribute to the accelerated implementation of the "125" project.
