On August 28th, at a grand event held at the Browns EV showroom in Colombo, Sri Lanka, Wuling Indonesia and Browns EV ceremoniously delivered 90 Wuling BinguoEV and CloudEV vehicles to their first batch of new owners, marking a significant step for SAIC-GM-Wuling's expansion into the South Asian market. Furthermore, coinciding with the Browns Group's 150th anniversary, the launch of a new green mobility business with Wuling is a significant milestone for the Browns Group, founded in 1875. The event was attended by Kapila, Managing Director of the Holding Group, Kalsha, Executive Director of the Holding Group, Niveyn, General Manager of the Automotive Business, and Wuling's right-hand drive sales representatives.
Kapila, Managing Director of Browns Group, said in his speech, "Browns EV's vision is to build a complete ecosystem so that every Sri Lankan can confidently embrace green mobility. Through Browns EV, leveraging the synergy across Browns Group's other business units, customers will not only receive high-quality Wuling vehicles, but also a comprehensive ecosystem of services including finance, insurance, after-sales service, and charging. Through our partnership with Wuling, a global leader in EVs, we will provide people with accessible, affordable, and reliable Wuling products."
As the world's third-largest electric vehicle brand, Wuling's new energy vehicle sales have exceeded 3 million units. Its motto, "Wuling builds what the people need," aligns perfectly with the Browns Group's strategy. Wuling will work with Browns Group to build an EV ecosystem, bringing high-quality, affordable, and accessible green mobility options to Sri Lankans.
As early as July of this year, before Wuling Indonesia celebrated its eighth anniversary and launched the MITRA EV commercial vehicle and the 2025 Binguo EV, Wuling Indonesia reached an annual order agreement with Browns Group for over 1,000 units, initiating preparations for the successful launch and delivery.
In 2025, Wuling Indonesia will strengthen its export business and resource allocation, building a "product + service + technology" system for its overseas expansion. To date, right-hand drive export business has expanded to 20 markets, with three new markets added annually, achieving 116% year-on-year growth. Going forward, Wuling Indonesia will continue to implement the ASEAN "One, Two, Three" strategy and strive to write a new chapter in the high-quality development of SAIC-GM-Wuling's overseas business.
